Globalization: Integration or Exploitation? |

Globalization, a term coined in the 1970’s, has undoubtedly left its mark on history and will continue to do so, as long as developed and developing countries continue to engage in free market policies. Socialists and even some liberalists argue that Globalization is cancerous and destroys developing countries, while those on the other spectrum of the argument agree with the fact that Globalization eventually does more harm than good. The perception and the reality of Globalization can be argued from different perspectives, but it is apparent that developing countries such as those in the Caribbean continue to struggle financially. Why is this? There are a number of historical, economical and psychological factors that can account for this, but regardless of the origin of these financial struggles, one undeniably fact is evident: developing countries are not making use of available resources. |

Can your business get a piece of that ever-growing Internet market? I started my first Internet business in 1994 and still sell products on the Web today. I'm an Internet veteran. And here's the most important lesson I can share with you -- it's hard to make money on the Internet. That isn't designed to discourage you from getting a Web site; in fact, I think every business must have one. It's more of a caution to remember that you're going to have to find most of your customers in the real world, not the virtual one. The small businesses that are best able to make money from the Internet are those that have a niche market or unique product. If customers are highly motivated to find you, you've got a better chance of being found. |
